Steve Ngo is a practitioner of international arbitration and dispute resolution where he has acted as specialist and arbitrator. He also practises in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group of Aquinas Law Alliance LLP in the area of arbitration.
He has been advising public and private entities not only on post-dispute matters but negotiation, mediation and dispute management. He has over the past decade focusing on China, Indonesia and China, the two key growth economies of Asia and South East Asia. Sectors and dispute areas he has been involved include oil and gas, energy, investment, joint venture, telecommunications, shipping, mining, financial services, international trade and engineering. Steve has extensive experience dealing with parties from all over the world, bringing strong cross-cultural proficiency to international dispute resolution processes and strategizing.
More recently, Steve has been involved in regional mining and energy related works in connection with dispute resolution and corporate exercises, involved in examining foreign laws, dealing with accountants, asset valuers, local regulators and stakeholders.
Steve has been involved in matters involving arbitration rules of, among others, CIETAC, LMAA, SAC, ICC, SIAC, PCA, UNCITRAL, ICSID, HKIAC, BANI and KLRCA. In addition to international commercial arbitration, he has been consulted on potential investor-state arbitrations, evaluating cases against and for the state party.
He also has vast experience in design and delivery of arbitration professional training programmes and postgraduate courses throughout the region. With previous professional experience in the higher education sector, he has special interest in the pedagogy and methodology of education. In addition to lectures and talks at academic institutions in the region, he has also lectured on dispute resolution at the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources Indonesia, Guangxi Lawyers’ Association, Singapore Law Society, Malaysian Bar Council, Taipei Bar Association and the Permanent Court of Arbitration, The Hague. Steve has written and published on subjects relating to arbitration and dispute resolution.
Steve has been appointed to various positions at various universities, including Honorary Professor of Law, National Law University, Delhi; International Visiting Professor, KIIT University School of Law, Bhubaneswar, Odisha; Visiting Professor, National Law University, Odisha; Part-time Professor at the School of Law, Guangxi University for Nationalities, Nanning; and sometime Guest Professor at the East China University of Politics and Law, Shanghai
In addition, Steve is an Adviser/Foreign Representative of the Shanghai Arbitration Court of International Shipping and Vice-Chairman of KIIT Arbitration Centre, KIIT University School of Law.
