Shang Jiangang, a veteran lawyer, who was appointed as senior judge at Shanghai No 2 Intermediate People’s Court in 2015, specialising in Intellectual Property Law paid a visit to Aquinas Law Alliance.
Shang who was one of two were specially selected candidates in Shanghai left an illustrious career as a lawyer and bucked the trend of judicial officers leaving to become lawyers.
On his decision in 2015, Shang said “After all these years of fighting as a lawyer, I have, to some extent, an understanding and vision of a society ruled by law. A selection system has become a reality in China, so I want to have a try.”
At Aquinas Law, Shang exchanged ideas and updates on Intellectual Property Laws in China with Managing Partner Aloysius Wee, Partner Jasmin Yek and Paralegal Eric Chen.
“We are honoured to have Justice Shang share his insights on Intellectual Property Laws in China and how this area is developing. China has the ambition to overtake the US as the largest economy of the world and it needs to have a sound and credible Intellectual Property framework to support that” said Aloysius Wee.
